Four Generations

31 March 2009

We were able to snap a four generation photo while in Colorado. We were so close to it being a 5 generation shot but great, great, grandma brown wasn't there. She lives in another state. Our son Vance wasn't able to make it either. Maybe next time. But we were able to get a 5 gen. shot a while ago. On the far right is great grandma and grandpa, far left are the newest grandparents (us!), on the far, far left is our daughter in law Heather with newest baby Gemma, Juli, Kelly, Aubryn, and Beckham have taken the center.

A Day in the Sun (and wind)

Kelly, Juli, Heather, Aubryn, Beckham, and Gemma braved the cold and wind to pay a visit to the Royal Gorge.

More of our wonderful hosts'

Dave and Ashley were absolutely wonderful. They housed most of our family while we were in Colorado. There were 7 of them and we had 7 with us. Some of ours were at 2 other homes. Plus our daughter in law and her little baby came for a visit and Dave and Ashley welcomed them into their home as well. What a party it was with 16 happy faces!!!

On Our 2nd. Round of Names

There's a little story behind these 3 little cousins!! They were all born within 10 days of each other. The ones in red and pink are 1 day apart. Their names are Mary, Denise, and Suzie. (Aunt Mary is pictured here too). The story goes like this. My hubby has 2 sisters and a sister in law named Denise, Suzie, and Mary. When these cousins were born 3 years ago we named them Denise, Suzie and Mary. It wasn't planned either. So how fun it is now to have an Aunt Denise, Aunt Suzie, and an Aunt Mary....AND now we have the next little set of Denise, Suzie, and Mary.

Mary and Mary

Our little Mary is so funny. She loves sharing a name with her Aunt. When you show her these pictures she says, "dats mery and mery!!"

Good Bye Long Hair

A wonderful perk to being in a large family is having your very own beautician. Janai's hair was in desperate need of being helped. Aunt Mary cut off at least 15 inches of hair and turned our little girl into 'someone' else!!

Our Hosts and Hostesses

Paul (Vance's brother) and wife Mary were so very kind to have Christie, Aaron, and Gregg spend a fun week with them while we were in Colorado. There were so many of us that we split up between the families but still managed to have a great time!!

Grandparents #1

29 March 2009

Grandma and Grandpa Smith-The Original--My hubby and I are the newest of the Grandma and Grandpa Smith's just starting out with 3 grandchildren. But the "original" grandma and grandpa are up to 47 grand children and counting!! Here they are in this picture.

I have never introduced my hubby's family here yet. So now would be a good time considering we just got back from spending a week with, well,-----most of them:) Time for a little history!!

My husband is the eldest of 11 children. Eight boys and three girls. There are 47 grandchildren, with 1 more on the way so far. They range in age from 27-1. If I set them in age groups it would look like this. There are 37 children under the age of 15 and only 10 over the age of 16. As you can see there are many, many, little ones. And let's not forget the 3 great-grandchildren who are 4 and under bringing all the little ones to 40 children under 15. The following pictures are from our trip to Colorado where only 4 of my husbands' siblings live and his wonderful parents. So let's begin from the beginning. Here are the 2 wonderful people who started this truckload of children!! Over the course of the next week I will be posting about our wonderful trip and the many adventures and fun our Mega Family has enjoyed over the past week.
