A weekend retreat and a Charlotte Mason conference

Last Thursday daddy and I packed our bags and headed north!! Leaving my children behind and just the two of us going away rarely happens. In fact, it's only the second time in our almost 29 years of marriage that we have done it. The first time 16 years ago we went away for 2 nights, this time my courage bumped me up to 3 nights!! We went to beautiful Windom, MN to attend a Living Education Retreat featuring Dr. Jack Beckman as the main speaker. The content was completely Charlotte Mason and her philosophy of education and the application of it. We had a wonderful time. I didn't take a whole lot photos but here are a few.

A funny thing about the kids though!! You know how when you take a family road trip and all you hear is ARE WE THERE YET, ARE WE THERE YET? Well, we had no children with us to ask that question. However, there are cell phones and it didn't stop the children from calling a million times asking, ARE YOU THERE YET? ARE YOU THERE YET? WHEN WILL YOU GET THERE? Soon children, soon, now hang up the phone and go drop it in a pale of water or something!!!

Saturday morning outdoor worship

Shalom Hill Farm~located where the corn grows and the roads are dirt! During our 6 hour drive there and 6 hour drive home we probably chatted more than we've done in years. I missed the children terribly, but I didn't miss the many interruptions that can go along with them!!

Wow....so nice you got a chance to get away. I always love my times away with my husband even if it's just down the road... :)

What a gorgeous setting for such a great weekend. I hope you came home full of fresh ideas and invigorated for your new year of school.

I enjoy our once in a great while get aways, too. Funny story about the kids calling you, happens to us, too.
