A "Peachy" Idea

Over the last several weeks around our home we have had lots of yummy
fruit we have been busy preserving. By the time my very last box of fruit was
brought to me I was plain tuckered out from all canning so I came up with an
idea for my peaches that was EVER so easy. I simply halved them, pitted them,
laid them skin side up on wax paper on a cookie sheet and froze them. After
they froze all the way I stuck them in zip lock bags and back into the freezer
they went. I'll answer your questions even before you ask. No, they did not
turn brown at all. And no, I didn't even bother to peel them. We have used
them in smoothies already and they are yummy. The kids take about
2 cups milk, 4 peach halves, and a banana and blend in the blender. Seriously
tastes like peach ice cream.

This picture was taken before I froze them and they still look just this.
Every peach kept their color. I completely expected them to turn but none of
them did.

Oh and lets not forget about the tons of zucchini I have gotten from our garden.
So far I have frozen 20 batches of bread. Which will come in handy when we start
back school full time. My kids love having it for breakfast so all I have to do is pull
from the freezer making breakfast a breeze. They love to smear a chunk of it with butter.

Oh I would love to have an abundance of peaches!!That does look easy and I'll surely use it if I can keep everyone from eating them first :-)

I've been freezing peach halves, also, and making smoothies, too. They are so good. I've got grated zucchini waiting to be baked into bread. Do you have a good zucchini bread recipe?

Great idea to freeze the peaches!!! I'm gonna go get some just to do that. We freeze blueberries and strawberries -- but never tried peaches! Yum!!!!

p.s. loved how you said you did not think I was fickle but were wondering if I am expecting.... not to my knowledge :)

That is what we do with our peaches - mainly b/c we do not have canning supplies. They are awesome for smoothies.

I absolutely love all of your garden pictures and the photos of your daughters. so precious!

This looks so yummy! And I love the idea for the peaches. I just learned so much from this blog. THANK YOU!

Have a wonderful day!

PS I froze the apples I picked last fall after cutting them up, and peeling them. They held up well to! I LOVE our freezer!

I made apple pies with them! I peeled and cut and put them in a gallon bag with some sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. They would also be good if you wanted to just make a baked apple betty or something like that. They have held up so wonderfully. I still have a few bags in the freezer. I don't know about putting them in a smoothy, I don't think it would hurt to try!!

They look beautiful! We do that very successfully here with mangoes. Just slice them and freeze the flesh. DELICIOUS all year round.
Pics from your place and kitchen always look so delightful.
